Turquoise waters and tamarind trees

The small town of St Anne is around the bay from Le Marin on Martinique's southern coast.

It is also a place where yachts anchor for a few days while sailing around the island or heading on to other parts of the Caribbean.

With its turquoise waters, white beaches and charming village feel, its a wonderful place to visit.

Local fishing boats and yachts.

Yacht chartering is big here.

Contorted trees grow on the beach at the high tide mark.

I can't imagine a better place to be laid to rest.

Yachts framed by tamarind trees.

The old church behind a square lined by tall tamarind trees.

Trees were packed with tamarinds. You could pick them up off the ground and eat them.

On the pier.

Late afternoon.

Sunset behing Le Diamant.
