St Luce marlin fisherman

At one of the fisherman's stands by the beach in St Luce, there was a marlin being cut up into fillets.

On the pointed nose of the marlin was a plastic coke bottle to stop onlookers getting spiked. I love the way that the fisherman's daughter looked on as she sucked on her dummy.

Its marlin season here and this one was caught in the Martinique-Guadeloupe strait from a small motorboat.

Here are the fillets. Couldn't be fresher than this.

The fisherman estimated that it weighed 40 kgs.

I couldn't resist and bought a couple of fillets for €5. It was €10 per kilo, which for marlin seemed like a bargain to me.

Here is the fisherman himself. We saw each other a few more times over the next few days in St Luce, and chatted about his fishing trips- it wasn't every day that he caught a marlin though.

Back at the hotel, the lady insisted for me not to have sushi. She fried the marlin steaks along with onions, and topped it off with a hot green pepper. Absolutely incredible. One of the best seafood meals I've had, and at €5, not a bad price.
