From Georgetown, the small plane flew along the densely forested coast of western Guyana and eastern Venezuela, before landing for a stop in Port of Spain, Trinidad.
Then we took off again, leaving behind the rugged north coast of Trinidad.
The plane followed all the Windward islands up to Antigua- thus passing over Grenada, St Vincent and the Grenadines (seen in the photo below), St Lucia, Martinique, Dominica and Guadeloupe. It was incredible to look down upon each island we flew over.
Then, the plane came in low over turquoise waters to land in Antigua.
I caught a minibus into town. Below are street scenes in St John's, the capital.
Papa Bird, long-time leader of the island.
Night shots in town.
The old and very English cathedral.
The historic and wealthy harbour-front of St John's, where cruise ships arrived for the day.
A typical house and mango trees, seen while crossing the island.
Super-yachts and crystal clear waters at English Harbour.
Historic Nelson's dockyard (he was stationed here), with its classic yachts.
