Orange cliffs and jungle food of Calibishie

Right up in the north of Dominica, overlooking the strait to Guadeloupe, are the island's sandiest beaches, centred around the coastal village of Calibishie.

Glenda's restaurant and bar, at the viewpoint.

Roadside bananas.

The bay from a restaurant in the village.

The orange cliffs of Calibishie.

House for sale, literally on the beach.

Car wash.

Petrol stop.

Tobacco farm.

Corrugated iron hut amongst banana palms.

Jungle Food.

Typically bananas, mangos, papaya.

Grapefruit, yams.

A typical infrastructure project on the island, funded by the EU. This one for a farm access road.

The Christian Union Church in Calibishie.

Dumplings and fried chicken.

A local house. Inside, I chatted to an elderly woman who was amused that I liked her house and garden.
